Greenough- Geraldton

Well Greenough is situated approximately 30ks from Geraldton, It is a Historic Settlement.
As we were going to stay and wait for Sandy and John to return from the Xmas break in N.S.W. we had to find accommodation for three to four weeks, not easy at this time of the year.
This caravan park was advertised as on the river and a stones throw from the beach, with excellent fishing.Sounded very good just what we needed also Sandy and John were able to leave their van there for $2-20 a day while they were in N.S.W.
So we all thought it was the ideal place.
In the meantime Sandy and John had the accident, and their van was in being fixed so they didn`t need to put their van into storage. Also now they didn`t know weather or not it  would be repaired by the time they were ready to come back.
When we arrived at the park, we couldn't`t believe it.
It wasn`t on the river, it wasn't a stones throw from the beach, you needed a four wheel bike to go to the beach and fishing if it wasn`t blowing. We stayed a week, went out every day as the wind was so strong that even the trees can`t grow straight.
The dirt inside the van was disgusting, every time you put a plate on the table you had to wipe it as you could hear the grit under it.
Donna and Phil come out and had drinks with us and couldn't`t believe it either.
We went to Flat Rock Beach, We went to the markets, then Dongara,We did a tour of the Village, that all was very interesting and beautiful we enjoyed it all. It was just that the park was so windy and old.
The amenities were very clean [how I will never know ] because our van wasn`t.
We finally got another accommodation in Geraldton and were able to go back there for 2 weeks to stay over Xmas,It took me three days to clean the car and the van inside and out. Never mind it is part of the experience and the adventure.
When we arrived here there were another couple that we have met up with, on and off ,since Port Headland, There names are Fay and Bruce.
We all went out to Ellen Dale Pond, and the wind farm,There were 54 turbines they produce electricity for 60,000 homes, and no matter what speed the wind is the fans do not go over 60ks per hour, they are huge. They weigh 30 tonns each. Massive
Then we come back to Geraldton and had lunch at the Dome it was beautiful, I want to go back, not one of us was disappointed in what we had to eat. And the best of all was it wasn`t expensive.
Fay and I did a tour of the Cathedral of St Francis Xavier we found it very interesting. It was designed and built by a priest Father Hawes. It was started in 1916 and finished in 1936, it is unbelievable.
We are spending Xmas Day with Fay and Bruce. After going to the Farmers market and meeting a cray fisherman, we are having lobster prawns and oysters for lunch.
 Oh! life is sad.
But as Rene`e said enjoy Mum ,next year could be Spam !!!!!!
Where we are now is very nice park. But that rotten wind is still blowing.
Tez and I went to the market to pick up the lobsters[alive] Then we come back and the boys cooked them, while I did the salads and Fay did the Pav.
As I have said before, we do not go without a thing on this trip food wise, all you have to do is talk to people and it is amazing what you find out.
We had a very nice Xmas Day with Fay and Bruce. Food was unbelievable.
The company was just as nice, it was a great day all round.
Fay and Bruce are starting to pack up as they are leaving tomorrow, they are heading south to Dongara
for a week.
We are here till the 2nd January, then we are going to Dongara to wait for Sandy and John.
Fay and Bruce will have left by then so don`t know when we will catch up again, But that is what this trip is like, you don`t know from one day to the next who you will see and for how long.
But sure as eggs you will meet again somewhere.
Well Fay and Bruce left this morning, we enjoyed their company very much, had allot of laughs.
Tez and I decided to go out to the Chapman Valley to see a Lavender Farm and a Museum Plus a winery. It was a very nice day The wind had eased for the first time in weeks, could not believe it.
Because it is the Tuesday after Xmas and it is still a public holiday, Nothing opens in W.A.
The drive was beautiful though. Just a shame it was that time of the year. Never mind can`t have it all.
Thursday :Well today could be the day that we get our first drop of rain since we left home, This afternoon is looking very grey and cloudy, It has been very hot yesterday and today so a storm could be brewing. This happens at times but then it burns off.
Today Tez and I went and did a tour of the H.M.A.S Sydney 11. Memorial in Geraldton. It was truly beautiful. { you must look at the photos} So much thought went into this memorial.Everything around the site has such significance, Everyone thought it out so well.
Today is Saturday 31-12 -11New Years Eve. We are still in Graldton, This morning we went to the Farmers Market, also to do the shopping as we move on on Monday and there isn`t anywhere to shop for a while so we have stocked up, with meat, Fish, and veg, plus groceries.
At The Market we bought all our veg for $10-00 we got, 2 avocado, 3 Cucumbers, 2kilo new Potatoes,1buncch spinach,1bunch of Italian Parsley, 1red capsicum,1kilo tomatoes, and 1doz eggs.
How is that?, unbelievable, and so fresh The tomatoes are so tasty. I wish there was one every where we go they are so good. No seafood there today. So we went to the Local Fish market a little dearer but fresh and got our fish, as Tez is not catching any.
After doing all of this and got back to the van to put it away, had lunch, we were going to the Museum, but were held up by some new neighbours from Northern Beaches N.S.W. they are Dave, Kerryn and their two children Jade and Thomas. They are on holiday but only for another two weeks , then they are off home to go back to work. What a dreadful thought.
They have tried everything to try and  extend, but all good things must come to an end.
We don`t even want to think of that day.
Today the 1-1-12 The drought broke, it rained for a whole 30mins. Enough to wash off the dust.
We also went for a drive out to Woorree. That is where Lorraine and Graham live,They were people we met in Dundee beach. They were not there they are in Kalgoolie with their boys over Xmas.
They have a property out there that is Wheat, Barley, Lupins and sheep.
Today is the 2-1-12 we moove on to Dongara.
